Sam's Profile

I became a member of MRSA Action UK, and attended the AGM in Birmingham in March 2008.  From this, I became so intrigued and emotionally involved with the Members and Trustees I met that day, I felt I needed to give some help and have an increased involvement within the Charity.

I offered my help as Newsletter Editor, when Claude was no longer available to continue the role.  I was deeply honoured to be welcomed into this Charity, yet was nervous to replace such an excellent Editor!  I was later asked to become a Trustee, which was something I did not expect and was deeply touched by this gesture and accepted immediately.

I have worked as a Customer Service Clerk for a number of years and have recently taken a job for a Chemical Company in the Planning department, a job which is demanding, but also rewarding.

Although I have not personally been affected by any Healthcare Acquired Infections, my family are going through a very difficult time at the moment, as my Auntie Deborah has been diagnosed with a severe Brain Tumour at only 47 years old.  She has two young children and a loving husband, but is deteriorating in such a rapid manner.

Through seeing my family being affected by such a traumatic experience, I felt the need to become involved with helping others and meeting people who have been through the same difficulties of watching a close family member succumb to such horrendous illnesses.
