We are guided by the principle that the care and safety of patients is paramount and should never be compromised. We will sustain those affected by healthcare infections by providing an advocacy and support service both for them and their carers. Responses to government consultation papers will reflect patients and carers views on the prevention of healthcare associated infections.
TERMS OF REFERENCE
1. To provide a support and advocacy service to patients, carers and dependants who affected by MRSA and other Healthcare Associated Infection
2. To provide information and advice for patients, carers and dependants who are affected by MRSA and other Healthcare Associated Infection
3. To provide a signpost for patients, carers and dependants who may seek benefits and / or compensation following Healthcare Associated Infection
4. To be a formal patient representative body on the topic of Healthcare Associated Infection
5. To review and respond to government consultation papers on guidelines and action for the prevention and control of Healthcare Associated Infection
6. To provide healthcare providers with advice on standards for communicating with patients, carers and all agencies involved in the care of patients
7. To respond to Department of Health consultations on drafting of Approved Codes of Practice and performance monitoring
8. To contribute to the medical Royal Colleges consultation on changes to professional training programmes to ensure compliance with Health & Safety Legislation, and Approved Codes of Practice
9. To provide advice on the implementation of existing Health and Safety legislation in the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health & The Management of Health and Safety
10. To continuously raise the profile of the repercussions of Healthcare Associated Infection, and the need for strict adherence to evolving codes of practice for the prevention and control of Healthcare Associated Infection
11. To liaise with microbiologists and the medical Royal Colleges, in the prevention and control of Healthcare Associated Infection
