I became a Trustee with MRSA Action UK due to losing my lovely brother Colin Law. I am the oldest of six children and Colin was the baby until we lost him sadly on the day before his 33rd birthday. It was hard enough to lose a brother, but to see a mum lose her son was even harder. I used to take Colin for his walks in his pram and have him over for little sleepovers.....he was the stand up comedian in the family, you never felt down when he was around because he wouldn't let you!

I am not too proud to say that I am a single mum myself and I have a son, Martin, who will be 30 years old in June he is a Submariner and I can remember when he was first approached about going on submarines.....he was very undecided until his favourite Uncle Colin told him that the latest submarine had Astra Turf on top! Boys and their football!! He has now been in the Navy for 11 years and I am so proud of him just like his Uncle Colin was....Martin still loves and misses him so much......we all do. Martin has a little boy, my grandson Kai who was two years old when we lost Colin, he is now 7 and I also have a beautiful granddaughter, Mia, who was 1 year old in April and I know that her great Uncle Colin would have had them both speaking French by now because that's the sort of person he was and still is in our hearts!

This is why it was so important to me to be a part of this group to help to eradicate these Superbugs from our hospitals so that other families will not have to go through what we went through and hopefully together we will be able to help stop these unnecessary deaths.
