National working group on Quality Improvement
 

 

Terms of Reference

 

-        To develop a strategy for speeding and embedding quality improvement across the health and social care delivery system in the short, medium and long terms (2 yrs, 5 yrs, 10+ yrs).

-        To develop a vision of quality, defined as fair, personalised, effective, safe.

-        To understand how high quality can be achieved in the NHS.

-        To devise a set of metrics, and an accompanying system for measuring, benchmarking, sharing and publicising the quality of services.

-        To develop a set of recommendations with a view to improve, reinvigorating and potentially redefining the "quality landscape" in England.

-        To base the work on national and international evidence of best practice and translatable lessons from other healthcare systems that could be learnt by the NHS in the areas of standard setting, data collection in clinical practice, inspection and review of healthcare service, and supporting quality improvement efforts.
